There are many ways that you could get involved in fundraising or just getting the word out about The Tandana Foundation from home. House Party:

Holding a house party is an excellent way to spread the word about your experience with Tandana. You can invite over some of your closest friends and ask them to bring a friend. It's a fun and comfortable atmosphere to learn more about Tandana and engage those who might be interested if exposed to our philosophy and ideas. We can even schedule a Tandana staff member to Zoom into your party to talk about Tandana's mission, values, and history. Presentations:

Give or sponsor a presentation to your club, in your class, or in your community about Tandana and your experiences or the reasons you support the organization. See a list of topics that we can facilitate here.


Events:

Hold a bake sale, craft sale, spaghetti dinner, pancake breakfast, read-a-thon, race, concert, or other event and donate the proceeds to Tandana.


Run:

Run a 5K or participate in another challenging event and collect donations to Tandana in honor of your effort.

Instead of a holiday or birthday gift for a friend or family member, give a donation to Tandana or ask that others give a donation to Tandana as a gift.  You can do this in person, if you have a party, or online using a External link opens in new tab or windowFacebook Fundraiser.


Connect:

Suggest Tandana to other charitable organizations that might be a source of funding for us, such as a community organization or church or family foundation in your hometown.


Share stories:

Outreach:

We’re always looking for new friends! Send us five names of people you know who would be interested in learning more about Tandana and our work. Or, forward an email about Tandana’s work to ten people you know who would be interested.


Buy:

Group trips:

Do you know organizations or groups who would like to take a group to Ecuador? We create custom programs for all kinds of groups – middle- and high-schoolers, college students, hospitals, gardeners and others. Suggest Tandana’s customized programs to them or send their contact information to info [at] tandanafoundation.org and we’ll contact them to see how we can work together.

As part of the Northeastern University Alliance of Civically Engaged Students (NU|ACES), a group of students visited the community of Gualapuro, Ecuador for a week-long service trip with The Tandana Foundation. I spoke with many members of the group about their experience on the trip and how the trip inspired them to launch several different fundraising efforts to benefit the community after returning.

When I was ten or eleven years old, I decided I wanted to do something different for my birthday. Since it was two days after Christmas, I felt like getting toys twice in one week was a bit much. Instead, I decided to raise money each year to send to Tandana so that a child in Ecuador could receive an education for a year.

Mikaela Howie, a wildlife researcher with expertise in field research related to avian conservation and ecology, has a passion for all outdoor activities including running. When her friend Stewart Smith passed away, Mikaela wanted to do something outdoors in his honor and memory.Mikaela4 She decided to run in the Big Bear Stampede, a 5K to 8K competitive trail run that raises awareness of mental illness, in memory of Stewart. She also decided to raise funds for The Tandana Foundation through her run.

She decided to sell tickets to a spaghetti dinner held at the school. She got the word out, inviting over 1000 friends on Facebook and by putting flyers in mailboxes. The night of the dinner, Brianne decorated tables with brown paper and placed crayons on the table so that guests could draw. She also placed pictures of the kids in Agualongo all around the place for people to see. Besides buying the tickets, people also donated money at the dinner. The tickets were $20.00, but most people ended up giving a lot more. She also gave a presentation about her stay in Agualongo at the dinner.
